A Plane Source Method for Measuring Interdiffusion Coefficients of Transparent Liquids

چکیده
a constant coefficient of thermal expansion, ( 2 2 + 1) x 10~6 degr. 1 , is obtained over the range 200 — 550 °C, and it appears as if the coefficient might be slightly lower in the region between 200 °C and room temperature. The thermal expansion of monoclinic lithium sulphate has been estimated previously by P I S T O R I U S 6, who measured the powder diffraction pattern at 500 C. From a comparison with the somewhat inaccurate room-temperature values of the unit-cell constants, he concluded that the thermal expansion takes place mainly along the c-axis. The difference between the quoted unit cell volumes at 500 °C and room temperature corresponds to an average coefficient of (linear) thermal expansion of 39 x 1 0 6 degr. 1 , which is higher than our result given above. For cubic lithium sulphate the contraction measurements give a coefficient of thermal expansion of (43 ± 3) x 1 0 6 degr . 1 for the range 600 750 °C.

A Non-Steady-State Method of Measuring the Thermal Conductivity of Transparent Liquids
A plane source method has been developed for non-steady-state measurements of the thermal conductivity of transparent liquids. The plane source is realized by using an electrically heated metal foil, suspended in the liquid. The temperature distribution is described by using the concept of instantaneous heat sources giving a simple expression of the optical path, which is recorded with wave-fro...
متن کاملMagnetic Field Simulations in Support of Interdiffusion Quantification with NMR
Modelling the mixing process of multicomponent liquids is still an open problem. In this work the possibility to use nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) to measure concentration profiles during interdiffusion of a binary system is discussed. NMR is a non-invasive technique that can be used to measure diffusivities of liquids over the complete viscosity range even for optically non-transparent samp...
متن کاملRelation between self diffusion and interdiffusion in Al-Cu melts
We compare the experimental interdiffusion constants DAlCu in liquid Al81.3Cu18.7 at% to the experimental Cu self diffusion constants DCu in a similar Al80Cu20 at% melt. DAlCu are measured by an X-ray radiography technique and DCu are measured by the quasielastic neutron scattering method. It was found that DAlCu is enhanced by a factor of 3 with respect to DCu. The relation between DAlCu and D...

In the present study, analytical solutions are developed for three-dimensional advection-dispersion equation (ADE) in semi-infinite adsorbing saturated homogeneous porous medium with time dependent dispersion coefficient. It means porosity of the medium is filled with single fluid(water). Dispersion coefficient is considered proportional to seepage velocity while adsorption coefficient inversel...
